Most of Howard's imagery depicts sparse and sparsely populated urban scenes, referencing familiar life motifs while filling the empty spaces with desolate beauty and the viewer's experiences.

Howard completed a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication in a previous century, worked as a freelance journalist, wrote a novel and co-owned a design studio before committing himself to painting.

He has held solo exhibitions and been represented in group shows, and is hung in private collections across Australia and overseas.
