Carolyn Cardinet
Carolyn Cardinet, a sustainability-focused installation artist, began her artistic journey in Paris before earning degrees from VCA (Bachelor) and RMIT (Master) in Australia. With over 30 years of experience, her French heritage and passion for sustainability blend seamlessly in her work, showcased in 16 art residencies worldwide. In 2023, she was a finalist in several prestigious awards, highlighting her sculptural talent with pieces made from single-use plastics. Currently, she continues her narrative of sustainability and global perspectives at her St Kilda Shakespeare Grove artist studio residency.
Carolyn Cardinet, is an ARTivist or accidental activist. She first witnessed coastal degradation in Australia and embarked on numerous artist residencies globally to engage with society's waste and challenge hyper-consumerism. Through environmental art, she transforms found materials, emphasising the importance of her practice. In 2019, she attended the Brisbane 'Climate Reality Leadership' program with AL Gore, expanding her knowledge to raise awareness about climate change. She furthered her training as a Sustainability Leader with the Port Phillip council in 2021 and the Yarra City Council in 2022.
This year her sculptural artworks were in Melbourne Design Week, the Sustainable Living as well as the Zero Waste and the Birrarung River Festivals. Carolyn exhibited with her collaborator artist Gabrielle Lea New at Assembly Point. Her installations were displayed in several group exhibitions Bayley Arts Gallery, Yarra Sculpture Gallery, Acheron Sculpture and was a finalist at the Yering Station Sculpture Award in the Yarra Valley.
