Check if you are eligible

Not all residents are eligible for a visitor parking permit.

If you need a visitor permit urgently, come to a customer service counter with the required documentation. If you are eligible, we can issue the permit on the spot. Bring all the correct identification documents to make it easy.

Using your visitor parking permit

Visitor Permits can only be used to visit the residential property that it is linked to.

They must be displayed clearly on the passenger side of the front windscreen of the visiting vehicle. Our parking enforcement team need to see the permit details easily.

Visitor permit details are:

  • permit number
  • area you can park in
  • date the permit expires.

Where you can park with a visitor parking permit:

  • in designated permit zones (in the street or area listed on the permit)
  • without time limits in time-restricted areas (of 30+ minutes)

You cannot use a visitor parking permit for:

  • Parking in clearways, no stopping, loading zones, and any other red sign restrictions.
  • Any commercial purposes.
  • Parking a truck, trailer, motorcycle, bus, coach, towable caravan, vehicle over 7.5m in length or vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) greater than 4.5 tonnes. Permits are considered invalid if displayed on any of these vehicles.

Don’t copy, reproduce or tamper with your permit. If we think a parking permit is being misused, we may ask Victoria Police to investigate it as a criminal offence.

Short stay accommodation parking

Properties utilised as short stay accommodation are ineligible for residential parking permits which includes Visitor parking permits as per the Parking Management Policy 2020.  Permits are not issued to landlords or hosts for the purpose of short stay accommodation guest parking.

If you have concerns about parking related to a short stay rental property, let us know. We can investigate.
