Background

Following a comprehensive review of our childcare facilities in 2019 and subsequent community consultation in 2021, we took onboard feedback from our community and committed to partnering with the Victorian Government to redevelop these facilities to make them fit for purpose now and for future generations of our children.

Aided by the Victorian Government’s pledge to provide funding support to assist us in bringing these facilities up to standard, we are investing in substantial upgrades to six of these facilities.

Funding

In October 2023, we entered into a Building Blocks Partnership agreement with the Victorian Government to fund these upgrades. As part of the co-funding arrangement, Council has committed to investing $18 million, in addition to the Victorian Government’s contribution of $12.6 million.

Timeframes

Given the magnitude and scope of this project, works are expected to run until 2030 with the first round of construction planned to begin in early 2026.

Facilities to be upgraded

The six facilities selected as part of the project are listed below.

Project update

We are currently in the planning and permitting phase of the project. As construction commencement timeframes are confirmed, we will be updating and adding to this page, so we encourage you to keep checking back here.

We have also been and will continue to communicate and consult with affected families, staff, committee members and service management to ensure they are supported throughout the entire project.
