Public assemblies, demonstrations and protests
Consent is not needed from Council to hold a public assembly, demonstration, protest or rally. However, if you notify us of your plans this helps us plan for any impacts to public spaces, and ensure that affected businesses and services are notified.
Notify Council
Before notifying Council, we encourage you to contact Victoria Police to discuss your plans.
Consider the following:
- Ensure you have adequate insurance coverage.
- Leaving enough space for others to safely pass.
- Being respectful of local residents and businesses. This includes keeping noise to a reasonable level.
