Why are we doing this?
Introducing canopy cover along Raleigh Street to cool the street and provide visual amenity. This project will also improve biodiversity, with native trees providing habitat for local fauna.
The impact
During tree planting of the in-road plots there will be temporary lane closures in Raleigh Street. Disruptions to traffic will be kept to a minimum. No complete road closures are anticipated.
Objectives
- Increase canopy to achieve a greener, cooler and more liveable street
- Increase the number of trees within Raleigh Street
- Providing habitat for local fauna
New Tree Species:
Tree Botanical Name: Tristaniopsis laurina “Luscious”, Common Name: Watergum (Luscious cultivar).
