Why are we doing this?
The existing skatepark is approaching the end of its useful life and there is a lack of supporting infrastructure including seating and path connections.
The redevelopment seeks to support community participation in recreational pursuits through providing an improved skatepark facility and improved public space outcomes.
The development is anticipated to increase community participation, improve connections to the surrounding open space and reduce the incidence of antisocial behaviour through increased passive surveillance and community ownership.
The impact
For the safety of the community, there will be no public access to the skatepark and surrounding area for the duration of construction.
The six unregulated carparks will also be removed as part of this project. We understand that this may cause some inconveniences.
We thank you in advance for your patience.
Objectives
The skatepark is a community facility for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
Skate facilities form part of the broader recreation and play provision across the municipality. Skateparks provide spaces for people to be active, develop skills and socialise in a safe and appropriately designed environment.
