Why are we doing this?
Lighting - Stage 1 and 2
The existing green colour goose neck lights between Elwood canal and public toilet were at the end of their useful life. We have now completed stage 1 of the the streetlight replacement works at foreshore. New energy efficient LEDs lights illuminate the footpath and cycle path providing a safe environment for all users at Elwood Foreshore.
Revegetating the site with native species
While we are planting, this site will be cordoned off. Please do not interfere with these areas to ensure that the vegetation have a healthy chance to thrive during this delicate period.
The impact
Stage 2 Lighting
The contractor will be working on either footpath or cycle path at any time. When one path is closed to the public, the other path will be temporary converted into shared zone. A map of these paths is shown at the bottom of the page.
Cyclists must slow down while construction is underway.
Stage 1 Revegetation
The area will be cordoned off during planting.
Objectives
The new lighting on the foreshore provides:
- a well-lit footpath and cycle path
- a beautiful foreshore with thriving native plants
- promotion of a safe public environment
- more energy-efficient LED lighting that uses less electricity.
