Why are we doing this?
The existing irrigation system in Catani Gardens is at the end of its functional life resulting in areas of lawn not being irrigated appropriately. Poor performance of the irrigation system has impacted the management of the gardens as an asset for community use and to important events site. Water use efficiency will also be improved through these renewal works.
The impact
Construction will be completed in three stages over a continuous construction period to limit disruption to users of the gardens. Certain areas will be closed to the public during this time and there may be some minor construction noise from the site
Objectives
Installation of a fully automatic pop-up irrigation system compatible with Council’s central control system to assist with water use efficiency and maintenance of the gardens in line with community expectations and as a key heritage asset for public use and important events site.
The new irrigation system will replace the existing failing system.
