Start saving on energy bills with Solar Savers

Published 5 August 2024
City of Port Phillip has joined the Solar Savers program to give you access to quality solar systems, batteries, heat pump hot water systems and split systems, at competitive prices.

Solar Savers is a local government program that makes it easier for you to start to reduce your energy bills by installing solar panels, batteries, hot water systems and split systems for heating and cooling. The program is available to home owners, renters, businesses and landlords.

With solar you can generate your own energy for your home through solar panels on your roof. You are still connected to the mains power grid so when the sun is not shining you still have electricity. On sunny days your excess solar goes back into the electricity grid. This means more renewable energy for everyone. Installing a split system for heating and cooling and an electric hot water system is a simple and cost-effective way to make your home more comfortable to live in and safer, as you’ll be replacing old, potentially unsafe products with new ones that meet current safety requirements.

Heating accounts for 43% of energy costs in the average Victorian home, making it the biggest home energy consumer and a good area to upgrade in.

The Solar Savers program supports you through the whole process by connecting you to accredited installers, offering competitive deals and helping you apply for the rebates, discounts and interest-free loans available. The program offers you the peace of mind that comes with knowing your installers have been independently evaluated on their safety, product quality and value for money.

Apartments can apply for grants through the Victorian Owners Corporation, with up to $2800 for solar available per apartment.
