How to dispose of your Christmas tree
Published 16 December 2024
We know that it’s not even Christmas yet! But once you are ready to dispose of your Christmas tree, it’s important to do so responsibly. Here is how.
If you live in a house or townhouse, you have several options:
- Book a hard / green waste collection – residents in houses and townhouses are eligible for up to four free hard and green waste collections per household, per year.
- Dispose of your Christmas tree using your FOGO bin – cut the tree into pieces so that it fits neatly inside the bin.
- Drop your tree off at our Resource Recovery Centre, free of charge.
If you live in an apartment or unit block:
- We request that you book a hard / green waste collection. Residents in apartments are eligible for up to six free collections per year. Please contact your owners corporation or building manager who can make a booking on your behalf.
- You can drop your tree off at our Resource Recovery Centre, free of charge.
Note: We request that those in apartments do not use our FOGO communal hubs to dispose of their Christmas tree. They take up a lot of space and may cause an issue for those wanting to use the bins for food and garden waste.
