Exciting Upgrade for St Kilda Adventure Playground

The City of Port Phillip is thrilled to announce the St Kilda Adventure Playground will receive a significant upgrade thanks to a $1.02 million grant from the Commonwealth Government’s Thriving Suburbs Program. This beloved community space, which has been a cornerstone for local children to adventure, imagine, and connect with nature, is set to receive a makeover.
The funding will be used to replace end-of-life equipment, buildings, and ground surfaces, ensuring the playground continues to support childhood development for generations to come. The project, which began in December 2024, is currently in the design delivery phase and is expected to be completed by September 2025.
The 40-year-old playground is highly valued by the community for its unique approach to risky but safe play, promoting amenity, livability, and social cohesion. The new facility will better support various community groups, such as kindergartens and playgroups, and unlock potential for other groups to run programs outside of playground hours.
Council has placed children at the heart of the design process, engaging 80 children aged 4-12 in workshops to gather their imaginative ideas to deliver a safe and fun playspace for generations to come.
We look forward to seeing this project come to life and continuing to collaborate with the community to create a vibrant and engaging space for all.
