Fishermans Bend
Early delivery of major public transport projects, such as a tram and train, will be one of the biggest determinants of the success of Fishermans Bend in delivering new homes and jobs.
To deliver a vibrant community, Fishermans Bend needs a commitment from the Federal and Victorian Governments to deliver public transport at Fishermans Bend.
The opportunity
Fishermans Bend is set to become a lively community with 80,000 new residents and 80,000 new jobs by 2050.
To make this happen, we need to build major public transport projects like trams and trains early on. This will help connect our growing community and make Fishermans Bend a great place to live and work. We need support from both the Federal and State Governments to get this done.

Why we're advocating
For Fishermans Bend to succeed, we need good public transport. Without trams and trains, we can’t achieve our vision. Transport is key to supporting new homes and jobs, attracting businesses, and making the area more liveable. Sustainable transport options like trams and trains will also reduce car use, cut traffic, and lower carbon emissions.
We’re asking the Federal Government to work with the State Government to plan and provide funding for the tram and train network in Fishermans Bend to address the following items:
What we're advocating for
To make Fishermans Bend a success, we need:
- A detailed plan showing how trams and trains can be introduced, including benefits and costs.
- Completion and sharing of these plans.
- Engagement with residents, businesses, and transport experts.
- Detailed cost estimates and a timeline for when the projects will be finished.
With these commitments, we can ensure Fishermans Bend becomes a well-connected, sustainable, and thriving community for everyone.
