Party Parking Permits
When Is a Party Parking Permit Required?
If you are planning an event and expect a greater demand for car parking, you should consider applying for a Party Parking Permit, especially if parking restrictions are in place close to where you live. Any resident of the City of Port Phillip can apply for Party Parking Permits.
Only residential addresses are eligible for Party Parking Permits.
Applying For a Party Parking Permit
There are three steps involved in making an application for a Party Parking Permit.
1. Complete Party Parking Permit application form
Complete the Party Parking Permit Application form.
2. Provide ID documentation
Documentation must include applicant's name and subject address.
You need to provide any 2 (two) of the following:
- Drivers licence
- Rates notice / record of property ownership on CoPP Rates Database
- Bank statement
- Lease Agreement / Official Bond Lodgement
- Utility bill (gas, electricity, water, telephone)
- Mobile phone bill
- Cable or pay TV bill
- Resident Parking Permit renewal notice
- Correspondence from a state or federal authority or agency
Notes
- Only one (1) piece of documentation listed above is required if a resident has a current valid Resident, Visitor or Foreshore Parking Permit.
- If no existing Resident, Visitor or Foreshore Parking Permit, then 2 pieces of the above-mentioned documentation are required.
- Original documentation can be sighted and copied at any town hall.
3. Pay fee
- $3.00 for two days and one night (duration of a Party Parking Permit)
Send your completed application form, ID documentation and payment to City of Port Phillip, Private Bag 3, St Kilda VIC 3182 or deliver in person to the Port Melbourne, South Melbourne or St Kilda Town Hall offices.
- Please note that if sending your application by mail, email or fax you will need to allow 5 working days for us to process and mail the permits.
Where Party Parking Permits Apply
Vehicles displaying a valid Party Parking Permit are exempt from green time limited signs and red 'Permit Zone' and 'No Stopping - Permit Holders Excepted' signs that adjoin residential properties in the street of permit issue, any intersecting streets and any immediately parallel streets.
Vehicles displaying a valid Party Parking Permit are not exempt from:
- Clearways, No Stopping Areas and other red parking signs
- 15 minute zones
- Parking restrictions located in shopping centres, off street car parks, outside non-residential properties, including commercial, industrial and community land uses
- Paid Parking locations
Party Parking Permit Limits
- A maximum of ten (10) Party Parking Permits per household will be issued at any one time.
- A maximum of five (5) applications for Party Parking Permits can be made each year.
Duration of Party Parking Permit
- A Party Parking Permit is valid for two days and one night.
