Community Service Organisation Parking Permit

Permit types:

  1. Community Service permit: Issued to Non profit organisations see eligibilty below
  2. Agency Permit: issued to internal council staff and councillors

Eligibility

Any non profit, community service organisation (subject to approval by CoPP) which requires their employee or member to visit, by private vehicle, a residential property within the City of Port Phillip at least 4 (four) days a week on official duties, is eligible to apply for a community service organisation parking permit (eg Red Cross, Royal District Nursing Association, Salvation Army, Sacred Heart Mission, Police, Child Care Centres, Meals on Wheels, Home Help, Consulates and Housing association

Permits will not be issued or be valid for the purpose of all day employee parking in the vicinity of their place of employment.


Application process:

New Applications or reissues of existing permits may write and must include:

  • Be on an organisation letterhead  
  • Signed by a manager, CEO or equivalent.  
  • Outlining why the permit is required.
  •  Describing the permit's weekly frequency of use.
  • Vehicle registration detail (permit will be registration based)
  • Name of vehicle driver if applicable (Not required if fleet vehilce is used by various drivers)
  •  Change of vehicle for existing permits: provide to council the old and new registration detail, the permit number, treat as a new application. If possible return to council the permit which is being replaced.
  • If these requirements are not met, your application will be declined

Where the Parking Permit Applies

Vehicles displaying a valid community service organisation parking permit are exempt from 'time limited' (green signs) and 'permit zone' parking restrictions adjoining residential properties in all streets within the City of Port Phillip.

Vehicles displaying a valid community service organisation parking permit are not exempt from:

  • Clearways, No Stopping Areas and other red parking signs
  • Parking restrictions located in shopping centres, off street car parks, outside non-residential properties, including commercial, industrial and community land uses
  • Paid parking locations

Parking Permit Duration

Community service organisation parking permits are issued for twelve months and maybe re issued via the above process.
