The City of Port Phillip is proud to sponsor the annual Pride March for the 17th year running.
Acting Mayor Cr Frank O’Connor says Pride March is one of the most anticipated events on the City of Port Phillip calendar and it is a great way to support the GLBTI community and celebrate diversity with friends, family and colleagues.
“We are inviting the community to join us for Pride March 2012 on Sunday 5 February. Everyone is welcome to march, including family and friends, and we guarantee a fun filled event full of music, food and plenty of atmosphere.
“The City of Port Phillip is committed to strengthening our diverse and inclusive community and this starts here, within our organisation. Every year, many members of our staff attend the march and we want to make 2012 even bigger than before,” he said.
Any groups or individuals may participate in the march to express their support for this community. The number of groups participating and the size of the march has grown year on year.
Pride March Victoria is recognised worldwide and brings many local, interstate and international visitors to the City of Port Phillip each year.
Through the public display of the march, Pride March Victoria celebrates the people and events that inspire the courage, solidarity, pride, diversity and strong sense of community.
Pride March is one of many cultural events organised by Pride March Victoria each summer.
